In June of 2010 three large boxes full of relief goods were sent to Zambia via the postal system. After an eventful three-month journey all three boxes did eventually arrive in Ndola where the contents were distributed to the poorest of the poor among the population.
Most of the boxes were filled with clothing and other household items. All contents as well as the cost of shipping were donated by the Frei family in Schaffhausen, Switzerland.
The rather long journey of these boxes, which thankfully did work out as planned, also provided iChange with valuable experiences and insights. It has to be noted that the shipping of such materials is not only comparatively expensive but can also pose a significant logistical challenge. We therefore will only conduct and support such activities in the future if it is the explicit request and wish of the donors.
Notwithstanding the challenges, the people of Mackenzie were excited and thankful about the support and would like to say thank you to all those who made this generous donation possible and helped bring it to a successful conclusion.
