Working full-time in the past years had often prevented me from visiting Zambia for more than a couple of days. At the same time, the work iChange does had inspired me in 2018 to begin a Masters study course at the University of Edinburgh in International Development. I had done so not necessarily with the intention of a career change, but with the desire for increased learning and understanding of issues of local development in education, especially the community school sector.
After finishing the first floor of the new classroom building at the Mackenzie Community School (MCS) in 2017, this year we focused on the completion of the still missing second level. Thanks to this project the school now has two additional classrooms, a necessary prerequisite for expanding to 6th grade at the beginning of 2020.
