Wall Fence for the Mackenzie Community School

by Nicholas C. (coordinator for iChange in Zambia) - September 2016

Background of the project

This project came about due to the need for security and a conducive environment for the students.

The project was proposed by the school management to the iChange Board of Directors, who approved the project and fully funded it.

Commencement of the project

The project started on the 6th of August 2016 and was completed on the 8th of September 2016, the works were done during the school holidays so that the school lessons would not be disturbed.

Participants on this project were the PTA, building experts, iChange members, and the school administration.

Impact of the project

Apart from providing the much needed security for the school, it has enabled easy control of the students' movement by the school management and has added beauty to the school environment and the community. Many parents from the community have expressed interest to have their children attend school at this secure community school and the teachers feel so proud to be teaching in such an environment. This will also make it easy for future developments around the school to be carried out without fear of insecurity as how it was the case in the past.

Conclusion

The entire school management, the PTA and the whole community of Mackenzie are so grateful to the iChange team for such a great and wonderful project. They are looking forward to meeting the iChange team to express their gratitude for such great contribution to their community.
