When Mackenzie Community School started 18 years ago, Lontiya Pola was there. With her love and passion for teaching she was one of the first volunteer teachers who started the school under a mango tree. Her gift of a loving, amazing heart and her perseverance soon made her an essential advocate for the importance of schooling in the community. Her tireless work for the Mackenzie Community School is a key reason that today the school is where it is - growing and flourishing.
It is with deep sadness that we have received the news that Teacher Lontiya Pola has passed away. She will be missed dearly, not only by the school, its teachers and her current and former students, but also by the whole iChange team and our many volunteers over the past decade, who had the privilege of knowing and working with her.
Our thoughts and hearts are with her family and the Mackenzie Community.
