Today marked a significant milestone as we celebrated the 25th anniversary of Mackenzie Community School. From its humble beginnings under a mango tree in 2000, the school has grown into a cornerstone of the community, providing quality education and opportunities for countless children over the years.
Since 2009, iChange has been an active NGO partner at Mackenzie Community School. iChange is primarily responsible for the teachers' allowances, supporting the growth of the teaching team from just three volunteer teachers in 2009 to ten fully trained professionals today. The school now offers education up to Grade 7, a significant expansion from its initial Grade 3 coverage before iChange started their work.
iChange also leads efforts in infrastructure and maintenance at the school, ensuring a safe and conducive learning environment. Key milestones include:
Completion of the Grade 3 classroom
Construction of a two-storey complex with four additional classrooms
Building modern toilet facilities
Erecting a secure wall fence
Establishing an independent water supply
These improvements have not only enhanced the school's capacity but also contributed to the well-being and safety of students and staff.
